Processing in Eclipse

December 20th, 2009

Recently I have been working on a sound / live visual project created in Processing for my Tokyo performance in April 2010. I decided to use Processing over other graphical / visual data programs as it provides me the flexibility for great extension. Also there are so many useful and great libraries out there that will help me speed up the development process of for this project. Having said this, for those who are using Processing I highly recommend you to switch from the native editor into the Eclipse environment! Using Eclipse will allow you to easily tap into the Java world and utilize its functionality that can be used directly in Processing.

Here is a simple tutorial as to how you can port Processing into Eclipse.

I know what you are all thinking… I have stuff that I would like to sale so why aren’t you putting a store front on your site? Well the reason is simple – I just haven’t had the time to get around it! But you can be assured that a store front will be coming up soon!

When the store is up, you can be sure that I will be selling my eepmon prints and other goodies online soon!

Back in the ALLCAPS

December 13th, 2009

Arrived back in the ALLCAPS last night.  One thing I observed coming back here in Ottawa is how Christmasy everything is… Time stops when you at the Banff Centre for one month!  Better get into Christmas gear.

Coming back from my one  month in the mountains allowed me to take my time to ponder about ideas I have been brewing and a chance to refocus.  I’ll be sure to make some of these ideas come to life in the near future.

Anyway, I’m currently making a little Christmas gift for you all.  I hope to get it all for you by this week.

Banff Centre

Studio

For the past 20 some days I have been working steadily on my paintings here at the Banff Centre.  I can definitely say my time spent here was very well worth it.  The Banff Centre has given me the right inspiration and focus that I need to bring my work to the next stage.

Here at this creative institution I have also had the pleasure to meet many amazing artists from all disciplines from all places around the world.  Truly a place of creative gathering.

eepmon & Renée-Paule Gauthier

Today I met up with my good friend Renée-Paule Gauthier who is a very talented violinist  (she was awarded this year the ca. 1700 Taft Stradivari violin).  Its been awhile since we last chatted so it was a nice way to catch up.

Anyway – as usual I’m up in my studio chugging away on my first painting.  I hope to complete this piece by the end of this week!

"Top 10" presentation

Today was indeed a full schedule.  Attended two presentations, and met artists from the Thematic Residency group.   One presentation was done by Joseph del Pesco – check it out at his flickr slide presentation here.  I also had great chats with Catherine Barrette from Gatineau and Amber Case (caseorganic) from Portland.

As well, I have finally started working on my first painting here at the Banff Centre.  The fun begins.

The Banff Centre – First Day

November 16th, 2009

Entering Banff

Today was my first day at the Banff Centre.  Settled in smoothly, met the faculty staff and my fellow visual artists who are also undertaking the self-directed residency.  What can I say?  They are all great people.  As I conversed with my colleagues, I can’t help but feel that we all seem to share something in common.  We have our passions and we have our goals – it is such a great thing to know that institutions like the Banff Centre recognizes and fosters creativity.  I am absolutely happy to be here.

Tomorrow I will commence setting up my studio space.  I hope to post pics of the setup soon.

peace.
